We are very pleased to announce that SysCAD has joined the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC) as an Affiliate Partner! Through this exciting partnership, SysCAD will support HILT CRC’s mission to de-risk decarbonisation pathways for industries such as alumina, iron/steel, and cement—working together toward a carbon-neutral future.
As part of this partnership, SysCAD will provide in-kind contributions annually, including:
- Full & Academic SysCAD Licenses
- Comprehensive Training
- Support and Assistance Services
HILT CRC brings together experts, researchers, and industry leaders to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy industries. We are thrilled to contribute to this important mission, helping these industries not just survive but thrive in a low-carbon economy.
We recently participated in our first events as a partner with HILT CRC, represented by Peter Marsh at the HILT CRC Annual Conference (October 17-18) and the HiTeMP Forum (October 21-23) in Adelaide. These events gathered local and international experts in policy and research to share their insights and engage in thoughtful discussions on the pathway to net zero for these high-temperature processes.
A key project highlighted was ALUMINext, aimed at developing and implementing next-generation alumina refining technologies. As part of this project, SysCAD is supplying its process modelling platform and simulation expertise to develop generic base case models which will provide a robust foundation for testing these transitional and transformational technologies.
Key initiatives include maximising energy recovery in Bayer circuits, optimising for net-zero steam generation, and designing calcination technologies that support electrification and reduce emissions. These efforts aim to develop pilot-ready configurations and prototypes for scalable, sustainable solutions in alumina refineries.
Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this journey together!
